The Essential of Ghazalian Psychology (Level 1)

It is the essence of the Psychological thought of al-Ghazali that serves as the first level of competence to master the second level of competence, named Ghazalian Counselling & Psychotherapy, and the third level named Ghazalian Coaching Psychology. This course is carried online for 10 hours in five series.

1st Series, (2 hours)

• The definition of psychology and its place according to al-Ghazali, as well as the comparison of five mainstreams school of thought in psychology.
• The definition of soul and the difference between qalb, nafs, ‘aql, and ruh.

2nd Series, (2 hours)

• The theory of character (akhlaq).
• The formation structure of character, qalb, syahwat, ghadab, ‘aql, and ‘adalah.

3rd Series, (2 hours)

• The developmental stages of character
• The dynamics of character: quwwah (mental and mechanical energy), gharizah (natural inclination), shifat, inbisath and inkibadh (cathexis and anti-cathexis), khatir (flashes of thought), wahmiyyah (estimation), ahwal (the soul’s states).

4th Series, (2 hours)

• The soul’s diseases and health (28 noble characters according to al-Ghazali).
• The motivation for service according to al-Ghazali.

5th Series, (2 hours)

• The framework of psychotherapy (‘ilaj an-nafs).
• Change management based on minhajul ‘abidin.
